Day Camp
What is Day Camp?
“Day” camp
is a non-resident "camp" environment scheduled
during various times of the day based on the season and location
of the camp. It is a great way to enjoy Girl Scouting with
out a troop commitment, as a first time Girl Scout, or if
you just not ready for resident
camp.
At day camp girls have an opportunity to make new friends
away from the school, family, or troop structure. Experience
new things like feeding and caring for farm animals, painting
with oil and canvas, or living like the pioneers! Best of
all, an opportunity to just have FUN!
Day Camps may be located all around Frontier Council’s
jurisdiction including outlying areas. Several are in the
Las Vegas valley, with multiple site locations close to everyone.
Outlying area camps include Pahrump, Boulder City and more
are on the way!
Volunteers are needed at several camps. Volunteering at
camps is a great way to spend quality time with your daughter,
meet her friends, and stay active. Some camps even provide
discounted camp fees to volunteers. Check with your Membership
Specialist for dates, times, and needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do campers do at day camp?
Each day camp has its own theme for special activities.
Girls will do theme-related activities and traditional camp
activities.Traditional activities may include outdoor cooking,
fire safety, arts and crafts and learning how to be a Careful
Camper. We take advantage of our outdoor setting to do activities
beyond a typical troop meeting.
Can parents volunteer to help at their daughter's day
camp?
Yes! Day camps are fully staffed by volunteers. To volunteer
at camp, contact the day camp director or check the volunteer
box on the registration form. Volunteers are guaranteed day
camp availability for their daughters. Some day camps can
accommodate part-time volunteers. Others need volunteers
for the full week.
Who can volunteer for Day Camp Staff?
Any one 18 or older that fills out a Volunteer
Application, passing background check, and takes Day
Camp Training.
Can I stay at Day Camp with my Daughter all day?
To insure that your daughters are kept in a secure environment,
only trained Camp Staff can participate in Day Camp activities.
This will limit the number of unknown adults in the areas
with girls. It will also help staff immediately identify “Stranger
Danger”.
What is a Tag-A-Long, and are they allowed?
A tag-a-long is anyone that is not registered in the day
camp that wants to tag along. Tag-A-Longs are not allowed
at Day Camp.
My daughter takes medication. How will that be handled?
Enclosed in your registration packet is a medication
release form. Any medication that you wish to be given
to your child during camp hours must be listed on this
form. All medication brought to Day Camp must be in its
original container. We are unable to administer any medication
that is not authorized on the release form (even Tylenol).
Will I be able to take pictures of my daughter at Day
Camp?
Camp staff will be taking photos of girls each day. In addition
each Girl will receive a unit photo to take home.
