Becoming A Donor

Junior TennisYes, I want to give!

Your Financial Contribution Can Make a Difference Right Now in Girl Scouting

Each year, more than 2,000 trained volunteers give their time and expertise to help girls grow strong through Girl Scouting.  Your  financial contribution is also crucial to the Girl Scouts of Frontier Council.  It allows us to retain qualified staff, and maintain service centers, volunteer resource centers, training and program facilities and our Girl Scout shop. There are many ways your financial contribution can make a difference.

Individual Gifts

Regular annual gifts from individuals are an essential element in funding Girl Scouting. They allow the council to plan effectively and provide unrestricted dollars, which can be used to meet priority needs.

Funds are needed to:

  • Underwrite targeted recruitment efforts.
  • Cover program costs.
  • Provide staff in communities where adult volunteer leadership is in short supply.

Tribute Fund
Gifts may be made to honor a friend or family member, and are used as financial aid for girls and adult members. Such gifts are unique ways to memorialize a favorite aunt whose passion was Girl Scouting, or surprise your daughter with a gift in her name upon her graduation from college.

Camperships
Any girl who is a registered member of Girl Scouts of Frontier Council who cannot afford to attend resident camp, may apply for financial assistance. Camperships are based on the needs of the girl, her commitment to Girl Scouting, and the availability of funds.

You can make it possible for girls to attend camp and Council events who may not otherwise be able to afford it. Often, girls who apply for Campership funds are excited about the possibility of attending resident camp for the first time in their lives. They may contribute their own or their family’s money, plus funds from Girl Scout product sales, and still need help to pay for the canoeing session or backpacking adventure they’ve always dreamed of.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Camp Quest Fund. Because of you, Girl Scouts of Frontier Council was able to offer financial assistance to over 50 girls in 2005.

Family Partnership
Contributions to Annual Giving are unrestricted, and have a tremendous impact on our ability to serve the counties within Frontier Council's jurisdiction. Money from our annual fund drive helps us meet these needs, paying for volunteer recruitment and training, staff travel to rural areas within our Council, publicity and promotion of the Girl Scout movement, and maintenance of our service centers, among many other things. Contributions will support troops in addition to the operations of the Council.

Planned giving
Several options are also available to help support Girl Scouting over the long term, and can produce significant tax advantages for your family. For more information about some of these options, contact your tax professional.

To make a contribution, or to receive information about any of our giving options, call Emily Smith, Director of Fund Development at 702-932-1913 or 702-385-3677, ext. 225.  You may send your contribution directly to Girl Scouts of Frontier Council, 2941 Harris Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.

In-Kind Donations
An in-kind donation can significantly assist in meeting the needs of our council. To find out how you can make an in-kind donation, please call the fund development department.

Taste of the ArtsCorporate Gifts

Many corporations and foundations have provided grants to Girl Scouts of Frontier Council to develop innovative programs and to fund their extension to girls throughout the council. As the premier organization serving girls between the ages of 5 and 17 we welcome such financial support. Corporations wishing to explore grant-making opportunities should contact Emily Smith, Director of Fund Development at 702-932-1913 or 702-385-3677, ext. 225.

Matching Gifts
Your employer may have a program to match contributions to not-for-profit organizations. This initiative provides direct support to community organizations in which employees and their families are involved. Because Girl Scouts of Frontier Council is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, it may be eligible for your company's matching gift program. Many individuals and families increase their contributions each year through matching gifts. Check with your personnel department for details. The council's tax-exempt status documentation may be required, which we will be happy to provide.

Special Events

Your sponsorship or attendance at our Girl Scouting events enhances the lives of family, friends, and neighbors involved in Girl Scouting. It also gives you the chance to support our council, honor women of distinction in your community, and come together with your friends and peers.

The Fund Development Committee is currently brainstorming other fundraising event ideas for the 2007-2008 Girl Scout year.  If you have suggestions or would like to join the Fund Development Committee, please Emily Smith.

Tax Exempt Status

Girl Scouts of the USA is a congressionally chartered, not-for-profit organization. Since there are chartered councils operating in all states and territories, it is important that all members avoid actions that might jeopardize the tax-exempt status of Girl Scouting, locally or nationally. To obtain a copy of the council tax-exempt letter to use when purchasing troop supplies, please contact your membership staff.
