MEMBERSHIP SPECIALIST II

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR MEMBERSHIP AND MARKETING

NATURE AND SCOPE: The incumbent is responsible for retaining and extending membership by supervising the adult volunteers within the assigned geographic areas and providing the volunteers with professional leadership and assistance.  The incumbent’s major responsibilities include recruiting, organizing, training, and supporting volunteers.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Deliver and extend Girl Scout program through the cultivation, recruitment, and retention of girl and adult members.
  • Extend membership to contribute to the growth of the racial and ethnic diversity of the Girl Scout membership by ensuring that assigned areas work to provide access.
  • Cultivate the community by maintaining contacts on an ongoing basis with local religious and educational institutions, cultural and racial groups, and service, professional, and other organizations in assigned areas.
  • Retain girl and adult members by effective methods of recruiting, training, supervising, coaching, and supporting Girl Scout volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Contribute to the council membership objectives and plan of work; provide reports as required by supervisor.
  • Support the council’s fund development efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to maintain the standards, carries out the mission, and adheres to the policies of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. and Girl Scouts of Frontier Council.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, management, public administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience in volunteer management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups of volunteers, staff and community organizations.
  • Bilingual Spanish candidates highly desirable.

Fulltime, exempt position, flexible schedule.  Candidate must provide own transportation.

Assistant Camp Director

Assists the Camp Director with overall operation of the camp.

Qualifications:
College degree or equivalent; previous camp administrative experience; supervisory skills.

Unit Leaders

Facilitate Girl Scout program within a unit of up to 30 girls; supervise staff members within the unit.

Qualifications:
Previous camp counseling experience is helpful; ability to work with children essential.

Kitchen Assistants

Group/School Program Coordinator

Accountable to: Director, Membership and Marketing

Qualifications:

  • Enjoys working with girls ages 5-17 and accepts their individuality
  • Believes in and promotes the principles of the Girl Scout organization
  • Has the ability to work with and cooperate with other adults
  • Enthusiasm and time for the position, and the willingness to take training.
  • Is at least 18 years of age
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Transportation a must
Duties:
  • Assist in planning and implementing program activities that meet the needs and interest of the participants and that are in keeping with the Girl Scout principles.
  • Keep accurate documentation of attendance by participants.
  • Supervise arts and crafts activities.
  • Supervise sport and game programs.
  • Communicate with and relate to parents or volunteers.
  • Maintain the appearance and upkeep of the interior and premises of the building.

Honorarium/Stipend: $12.00 per meeting

Drop-In-Center Director

Accountable to: Director, Membership and Marketing

Qualifications:

  • This person should have demonstrated ability in planning, supervising, and implementing program activities for girls 5 through 17 years old.
  • Enjoys working with girls, boys, young women and men
  • Believes in and promotes the principles of the Girl Scout organization
  • Has the ability to work with girls and boys and accept their individuality
  • Has the ability to work with and cooperate with other adults
  • Enthusiasm and time for the position, and the willingness to take training.
  • Willingness to become an active, registered member of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
  • Has the ability to work with and cooperate with other adults.
  • Is at least 21 years of age
  • Bilingual candidates are highly desirable

Duties:

  • Plan, supervise and implement program activities that meet the needs and interests of the participants and that are in keeping with the Girl Scout principles and beliefs, and are based on current Girl Scout handbooks and materials.
  • Keep accurate documentation of attendance by participants.
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff and volunteer helpers in maintaining quality program activities. Develop weekly/monthly calendar of activities; identify and secure the needed supplies, equipment and personnel.
  • Maintain daily schedules.
  • Collect and receipt program fees, if applicable.
  • Handle petty cash, if applicable.
  • Establish emergency procedures appropriate to the site and consistent with GSUSA health and safety standards.
  • Communicate with and relate to parents or volunteers.
  • Maintain the appearance and upkeep of the interior and premises of the building.

Salary: $8.00-$10 per hour, based on experience and education

Drop-In-Center Assistant

  • Believes in and promotes the principles of the Girl Scout organization
  • Has the ability to work with girls and boys and accept their individuality
  • Has the ability to work with and cooperate with other adults
  • Enthusiasm and time for the position, and the willingness to take training.
  • Willingness to become a registered member of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
  • Is at least 18 years of age
  • Bilingual candidates are highly desirable.

Duties:

  • Assist in planning and implementing program activities that meet the needs and interest of the participants and that are in keeping with the Girl Scout principles.
  • Keep accurate documentation of attendance by participants.
  • Supervise arts and crafts activities.
  • Supervise field trips, sport and game programs.
  • Communicate with and relate to parents or volunteers.
  • Maintain the appearance and upkeep of the interior and premises of the building.

Salary: $6.75 per hour, 35 hours per week Summer months, June, July and August
