Volunteer
Today's Girl Scout volunteerism may surprise you. We offer many exciting, flexible ways to participate though which adults can engage in Girl Scouting. You can choose to work directly or indirectly with girls for a single event, a series of special focused activity sessions, a week long journey to regional, national, or international destination, or engage in activities with the same group of girls for nine to twelve months!
Girl Scout volunteers are busy adults! If you cannot commit to a regular schedule, you can choose a level of involvement that allows you to fit Girl Scouting into your lifestyle, whether it is once a month, weekends, evenings, or at a particular time of year.
You may be a community leader, college professor, stay-at-home mom, dad, or guardian. You may be a Girl Scout alumna who wants to stay connected. You may love collaborating with girls throughout a troop year or maybe you're looking for an opportunity to commit for a few weeks or months. Great news! The Girl Scout community is hard at work on a new approach to making sure that all individuals (girls and adults) can participate in Girl Scouting in the ways they want to!
How Girl Scouting Benefits Girls
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience engages girls in discovering self, connecting with others, and taking action to make the world a better place. Discover, Connect, and Take Action are the three keys to Leadership.
In Girl Scouting, Discover + Connect + Take Action=Leadership. All Girl Scout experiences are intentionally designed to tie to one or more of the 15 national leadership outcomes, or benefits, categorized under the three keys to leadership.
If you don’t, who will?
Girl Scouting is one of America’s greatest success stories. Founded in 1912, more than 45 million adult women have grown strong in the world’s preeminent organization dedicated to serving girls and young women.
Two-thirds of this nation’s women of achievement – our doctors, lawyers, engineers, educators, astronauts, political leaders – were Girl Scouts when they were young.
But Girl Scouting’s success hinges on one very crucial factor – volunteers. Girl Scouts would simply not be possible without them. Volunteers – who make up 99% of Girl Scouting’s entire adult membership – are totally responsible for the success of Girl Scouting. This has always been the case, and it will always be so.
In the Girl Scouts, they discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together; and through the many enriching experiences provided by the Girl Scouts, they can grow courageous and strong. Make a difference for the Girls in Your Community.
